Sketch by Zohar Nir-Amitin

My roomies (sans Parallel) and I went on a 905er Value Village roadtrip a couple of days ago, and one of the goodies I picked up was a pocket Etch A Sketch. I just figured out how to draw squiggly lines on it, but my talented friendJosh quickly etch a sketched a portrait of me.

Ok, so he drew a portrait of what I will look like 30 years from now, but lets see you do better.

My new time waster got me thinking that it would be awesome to curate an Etch A Sketch artshow at Ourspace, and so as soon as I regain some ambition in life, I will get on that. Until then, here is what others have done with their Etch A Sketch:

“Unexisted Things Exist Inside My Head”is a 17-minute video installation on an Etch A Sketch in action by Zohar Nir-Amitin. I couldn’t find the video itself (boo!), but here (plus the one above) are some prints from the video:

Apparently, Etch A Sketches can also be used as music controllers to make music. When you sketch a picture, you change the music.

If I made Etch A Sketch music, I wish it would sound like this:

If you aren’t a proud owner of an Etch A Sketch like I am, you can always draw online at www.etchy.org

P.S. There is a crazy secret after-party happening at Ourspace on Friday night. Email me for questlist.
