Choose Life.

The author Irvine Welsh, best known for his novel Trainspotting, is giving a reading from his new book Crime, at the York Quay Centre (235 Queens Quay W) on October 1st, 7:30pm. The reading will be followed by an onstage interview with Welsh. The evening is part of a series of events called Authors at Harbourfront Center.

Crime, “a thrilling journey into the bright glamour of the Sunshine State and a seething underworld of utter darkness”, is based on the character Detective Inspector Ray Lennox from his earlier novel, Filth.

Tickets ($8) can be purchased here. I’ve bought two tickets already, and (Nerd Alert!) I’m looking for a reading buddy to (re-)read Filth with me in preparation for Crime.

FYI: Welsh is/was a house music DJ, promoter, and producer.

P.S. Welsh is planning to write a prequel to Trainspotting to be published in 2009.
